Broths & Juices for glowing skin, clearing acne & optimum health

I’m a huge advocate for the power of nature and its healing abilities. I also believe healing comes from within, not an outside source.

One of the techniques I use to treat skin conditions and support skin health is raw juicing.

I’ve witnessed first hand the miraculous power nutrition has with clients, when I combine it with my acne protocols.  Raw juicing has the power to transform any type of skin that’s looking tired, dull or aged.

Below is one simple healing broth and two simple juice prescriptions.  Feel free to pass on to anyone you know who is suffering with acne.

Healing broth

Healing Broth is a powerful mineral-rich liquid that carries the essence of vitally nutritious vegetables, herbs, & spices in a way that is easy for the body to digest, assimilate, and utilise. You will find this recipe comforting, tasty and nourishing. The ingredients of this simple recipe help to provide tremendous healing benefits.

Carrots help to lower blood pressure, reduce edema, relax muscles, steady nerves, and balance cognitive function. Onions & garlic have powerful antiviral & antibiotic properties, very helpful in acne cases and can help eliminate heavy metals and parasites from the body.

Parsley & shiitake mushrooms contain an excellent bioavailable form of iron which helps to keep your blood strong and prevent anaemia and are also rich in zinc which is great for skin and highly beneficial for treating viral issues and strengthening the immune system. Ginger & turmeric root helps reduce inflammation and improve liver function and aids in keeps your hair growing strong and skin healthy and vibrant.

Adapted from the medical medium It’s super tasty and healthy.  You can make a batch up and freeze to use for lunches throughout the week.

Ingredients
4 carrots, chopped or 1 sweet potato, cubed
2 stalks of celery, roughly chopped
2  onions, sliced
1 cup parsley, finely chopped
1 cup of shiitake mushrooms, fresh or dried (optional)
2 tomatoes, chopped (optional)
1 bulb of garlic (about 6-8 cloves), minced
1 inch of fresh ginger root
1 inch of fresh turmeric root
8 cups of water
1 good quality veg stock cube
Optional: Chili peppers or red pepper flakes

Preparation
Place all the ingredients in a pot and bring to a gentle boil. Turn heat down to low and allow to simmer for about an hour. Strain and sip for a mineral rich, healing and restorative broth or leave the veggies in to enjoy as a light healing soup.

Clear my Skin Juice regime

Breakfast time
1 organic apple
2 sticks of organic celery
2 organic carrots
1/4 inch of fresh ginger
Tumeric root
Simply juice all the ingredients (no need to blend) and serve
If you struggle to find Tumeric root, you can always blend the juice at the end with Tumeric powder.

Mid afternoon  / evening meal

Cup of lettuce (Butter leaf, red leaf of green)
Cup of Spinach or Kale
1/4 of a cucumber
Handful of organic blueberries
1 cup of pineapple
1 probiotic capsule (I use bio- kult)

Juice the lettuce, spinach or kale, cucumber and pineapple.
Transfer to a blender add the blueberries, crack open the probiotic – sprinkle in, then simply blend and serve.

For acne skin, I recommend 2 juices a day initially for 2 weeks.  Drinking water infused with fresh lemon and eating clean.

I also recommend a good quality Zinc and Vitamin C Supplement and advise increasing your intake of good fats, to help strengthen the elasticity of the skin, to help reduce pitted scarring.  Options include foods such as oily fish, Avocados, olive oil and nuts such as almonds.

I also recommend eliminating the following foods.
Eggs
Dairy
Gluten
As they can help multiply and feed the streptococcus bacteria, which plays a huge role in acne.
